MUSIC OF THE DANCERS FROM THE STARS
Born in 2003 as a natural stage for founder Michele Palmas, an expert producer and one of the
most prolific jazz and world music sound engineers in Italy, the independent label S'Ard Music has
picked up much of the legacy of the Jazz in Sardegna Festival, an institution that, since 1980, has
taken Sardinia to the centre of the world thanks to its propensity for musical “contamination”
between great international jazz and the sounds of the Sardinian folk tradition.
S'Ard is a dream that brings together infinite worlds to be discovered, expressions of a constantly
evolving identity that reflects the ambivalence of its land of origin, a Sardinia that is, at the same
time, a land of conquest and contamination along its coasts and of ferocity and traditions inland.
For almost 20 years, the S'Ard universe has expanded to give voice and space to different artistic
manifestations, mainly through the record label that today counts 43 titles, the activity of the
recording studio, Le Lavanderie, in the historic centre of Cagliari and the cultural association
S'Ardmusic, committed to the promotion of island music, through the production of live and
streaming concerts.
The S'Ard imaginary finds its inspiration in the famous novel by the great Cagliari writer Sergio
Atzeni, "Passavamo sulla Terra Leggeri" (We Passed Lightly through the Earth).
